Historically, they were hunted extensively to protect livestock, reducing their populations drastically. Habitat fragmentation from urbanization and development further threatens their survival. While some wolf populations have rebounded due to conservation efforts, they remain endangered in many areas due to ongoing conflicts with humans, loss of prey, and habitat degradation. Continued conservation efforts are essential for their long-term survival.
