Lions are classified as "Vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They face various threats, including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, and depletion of prey species. Encroachment of human settlements, agriculture, and infrastructure development reduce their habitats and increase conflicts with humans. Poaching for trophies and traditional medicine also contribute to their decline. Conservation efforts such as habitat protection, community engagement, and anti-poaching measures are crucial for the survival of lion populations in the wild.
